In 2003 I was unexpectedly awarded the title of Microsoft MVP in XML and was renewed four times. The award was for community contributions and technical expertise. The XML group was disbanded in 2009 and I am no longer an MVP.
It was a great experience, I met a lot of lasting friends and had a great time learning from the best of the best, most of whom made my technical knowledge seem very paltry.
