I'm a bit surprised that the media throws up its arms about the Prime Minister being influenced by his wife over Syria. For one thing almost all people are influenced by those around them with spouses being high on the list.
What's the point of sending Samantha on a fact-finding visit there if she's not allowed to say things like - it's terrible over there for the children, they are living in despicable conditions; I hope we can do something to help?
I doubt whether her attempts at influence go much further than that, can't see her giving him an ultimatum such as No more nookie for you until Assad is overthrown!
Perhaps we should just treat Dave and Sam as a team, much as the US seems to treat its president and first lady, rather than try to put up a Chinese wall between them?
If that's the case don't forget to base your vote on both the candidate and their spouse.
