For once I actually agree with the Prime Minister. Mind you it seems most people, other than a few out-of-touch judges, concur that the way injunctions are handled is unsustainable in the internet age. We have all heard how a famous footballer has been granted one prevented people revealing what he’s been up to, you can’t even mention that he has an injunction. What I don’t understand is, if I mention his name on Twitter and my 50,000 followers (okay that’s a slight exaggeration but I’m @joefawcett if you’re interested) see it, can I plead in court that I didn’t know about the injunction? I mean, how could I have, if it’s a secret? – His lawyers would have to prove that I had been told about it. We’ll see if the estimated 75,000 tweeters who did mention his name are all prosecuted, somehow I think not.
